Fat Fighter TV

Hi, Everyone –

An interesting health-focused Web site was recently brought to my attention that has lots of great resources for anyone looking to get healthy. Fat Fighter TV is the brainchild of veteran health reporter Sahar Aker, a journalist who has found her way from news stations across the U.S. to Fat Fighter TV.

The site has heath information, news, tips, recipe exchanges and a video forum with all original videos. The videos are pretty interesting. Many of them are real people giving their own diet and weight-loss tips. For an entertaining and informative experience, check it out. Anyone have any other must read sites to share?

Get outside this winter!

Hi, Everyone –

Usually, the favorite season for outdoor recreation is summer. It makes sense, warm weather and sunshine are the perfect reason to take your exercise regimen outside; however, there are actually a ton of great things to do outside in the winter as well. Living in Colorado, I might have a little bit easier access to the slopes and traditional winter sports, but there are plenty of other activities you can do.

If you can’t hit the slopes (which is great exercise, by the way) get outside and have a snowball fight with your kids, or build a snowman. If it hasn’t, or doesn’t, snow where you live, take advantage of the cool weather and go for a brisk walk or hike to enjoy the changing seasons. Just because it’s a little chilly outside, doesn’t mean you should stay locked inside! What is your favorite thing to do in the winter?

Shielding your kids from eating disorders

Hi, Everyone –

A disturbing article came out in the UK’s Sun today. The article discusses the recent rise in the number of young girls battling eating disorders. In just 13 months, the British Pediatric Service Unit reported that there were 206 cases of anorexia in children under the age of 13, and the youngest reported was just six-years-old.

It is so important that kids have good role models when it comes to eating, being active and accepting their bodies. With all of the negative images in the media, it is even more important that kids have positive influences they can emulate. How do you keep your kids grounded when it comes to a healthy lifestyle?

The Dangers of Thanksgiving

Hi, Everyone –

Thanksgiving is generally the one day of the year where it is considered completely acceptable to eat until you are about ready to explode and then pass out on the couch watching football. Well, self control aside, you can make slight variations to your favorite Thanksgiving recipes so they are healthier and still delicious. Check out these recipes on EatingWell.com for some great turkey day tips!

Satiety and weight-loss

Hi, Everyone –

There is a big trend in weight-loss right now toward products that help you curb your hunger. These satiety-focused products can really be an excellent tool when combined with healthy eating and exercise. As you may know, I actually invented one of these products and it appeared in a satiety story this weekend on CBS 4 in Denver. Check it out here.

What do you think about satiety products? Have you tried any? Do they work for you?
